Keanu Reeves Talks with Marvel, Says He “Gotta Find Something” To Do in the MCU | FreebieMNL
Fans have long favored the role of Ghost Rider for Reeves if – or when? – he joins the MCU.
With the rigorously reviewed The Matrix Revolutions now in the rearview mirror, Keanu Reeves now looks onto the horizon where his next possible destination lies: the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
For the second time since 2019, reports again abound that Marvel Studios top dog Kevin Feige have sat down with the John Wick star; back then, nothing concrete came to light from Feige’s end.
“We talk to him for almost every film we make,” Feige told ComicBook.com back in 2019. “We talk to Keanu Reeves about. I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it.”
This time, though, it’s Reeves’ turn to confirm that, yes, the alleged conversations took place.
Speaking to ComicBook.com, Reeves said that his chat with Feige indeed happened, but they’ve yet to arrive at anything solid for him to take part in.
“We have met, and [Kevin Feige]’s a cool cat. Yeah. But no, we don’t have anything,” said Reeves, followed by a faint passion for a future position in the MCU realm: “Gotta find something.”
If that wasn’t enough, back in November, Reeves also gave positive answers to questions by Esquire about his Marvel future.
“It would be an honor. There’s some really amazing directors, and visionaries, and they’re doing something no one’s ever really done. It’s special in that sense in terms of the scale, the ambition, the production. So it’d be cool to be a part of that,” the 57-year-old said.
With Reeves once again fanning the flames of speculations, Marvel fans can only assume that the Constantine actor will cross the borders sooner rather than later. It’s just a matter of role, and if we’re taking cues from fans online, one superhero icon would probably suit Reeves’ stature the best: Ghost Rider.
Perhaps spurred by the chats they had back in 2019, the gears started turning in the minds of comic book fans to campaign on behalf of Reeves for the death-defying role – and why not? Not only has Reeves fulfilled the most kick-ass roles on screen, with his raspy voice and suave misdemeanor, but he’s also a motorcycle aficionado.
Perhaps his only contender to the role to date is “The Walking Dead” star Norman Reedus, who also has a sizeable following begging for him to play Ghost Rider.
Regardless of which role Reeves ends up taking within the MCU, we’re more than certain the Canadian superstar would kick ass playing it.
